Elders
Currently we have six men (including the senior pastor) who are serving as the elders, or overseers, of SEFC.
As our By-law document explains:
“The elders (including the pastoral staff) are called to be men who set an example of spiritual maturity, are able to teach, and who serve together as overseers and shepherds for the congregation [1 Timothy 3:1-7, and Titus 1:5-9]. The elders shall seek to know the congregation well, develop healthy relationships within the church, and participate actively in the life and ministries of the church. The Elder Team shall meet together regularly (normally every month) to edify one another spiritually, discuss and pray for the needs of the congregation, discern about matters relevant to the congregation’s wellbeing and mission, and decide together about any matters which require pastoral advice or planning.”
Deacons
As our By-law document explains:
“Deacons are called to be godly men or women who willingly serve the church in practical ways… In general, deacons shall attend to matters of administration, financial management, and building use and maintenance.”
